DESCRIPTION: I am thrilled to offer an Elizabeth Taylor for Avon signed Shaw Jehan Pendant & snake (wheat) SLIDE Chain Set.
In the 1990s, Ms. Taylor found inspiration for her Avon collection from a heart shaped diamond ring gifted to her from then husband, Richard Burton, and once owned by Shaw Jehan, designer of India's magnificent Taj Mahal palace.
The MASSIVE set, created for Avon, is a tour de force in costume jewelry design & construction.
The HEART PENDANT's foundation is a translucent slab of heart-shaped green glass seen best when holding up to the light. (See enclosed photo.)
The green glass is ENCASED in a substantial 22-kt gold-over-gold tone metal, open-work frame measuring ~1-7/8” x 2-1/4” !
The pendant’s face has heart upon heart upon heart.
The center heart, a pretty focal point, is made from translucent lucite.
The lucite looks like frosted glass & has depth & dimension.
Within are carved symbols.
Delicate, golden CAVIER beading frames the lucite heart.
Surrounding the caviar beading is an olive green ENAMEL heart.
Framing the enameling are pretty, faceted RUBY red crystals.
Finally, the outer most heart has an open-work floral design & surrounding crystals set into a gold tone design.
The pendant’s reverse is highly stylized with lattice work covered with ROSETTES.
The reverse’s gold tone metal is highly texturized.
The thick, flexible snake-style CHAIN is bathed in the same rich gold tone metal as the pendant.
Directly above the pendant, the chain is looped & secured on either side with wide, chunky ruby red cabochon findings.
Covering the chains' ends are beautiful CROWNs (tulip) style end caps.
They, too, have beautiful red cabochons crystals.
The chunky SLIDE mechanism itself has a “quilted” design & covered with red cabochon crystals.
The other sides of the chain are sealed with another CROWN end cap, also covered with red cabochon crystals.
From this crown flows a TASSEL with 12 delicate chains each finished with a translucent red bead.
The slide mechanism, which holds tightly, can be adjusted for just the right fit.
Truly ROMANTIC wearable art.

No discernible metal wear.
Please note on the reverse, you will see two "putty" knobs that were part of the manufacturing process and are NOT repairs.
