*DESCRIPTION: I love Ms. River’s Maltese crosses.
To me, this is one of her finest examples.
First, the piece is BIG & BOLD.
Second, the weight is substantial.
Third, the colors & materials unite to create an exquisite pin.
Abalone Shell is featured in the center with a cabochon cut piece, ~20 cm, that has so much rich color.
Surrounding the center stone are square-cut pieces of abalone, each with its own unique design.
On either side of the square-cut pieces are gray green SWAROVSKI pearl beads, each ~10 cm.
The elements are set into silver tone metal that is Japanned.
The Japanning effect adds so much to the overall appearance of piece.
The reverse is also Japanned and there is flower cut out work! Wow!
The overall shape is domed.
Lovely piece with attention to detail.
